In the late summer of 1942 an estimated 1.8 million Jews had been killed by
the Germans and 300,000 of the 500,000 Jews jammed in the capital of Poland ghetto had
been deported to a sm altogether villages where Germans set up death camps. What if all of
this could prevail been prevented? Prevented by one man by the design of Jan Karski,
a liason officers of the Polish underground who infiltarted both the Warsawr Ghetto
and a German density camp. He made one of the first eye witnesser accounts
of the Holocaust to a most desbilieving west. What if people had believed him?
would the Holocaust have continued? I believe Western leaders handle there

He was born Jan Kozielewski,the youngest of eight children,In Lodz,Polands
second largest city,on April 24,1914. He was a prize learner and he was recruited
into the polish diplomatistic service,where he was given assignments to capital of the United Kingdom and
Paris. But as war approached,he enlisted in the army and was service of process as a calvalry
officer in 1939 when German soldiers invaded Poland and divided the country. Mr.
Karski was gaining controld by the Soviets and place in a detention camp. He escaped
and joined the polish underground; most of the polish officers imprisoned with him
were subsequently executed by Soviet troops.
Mr.
Karski became skilled at carrefour enemy lines as a liason between the
Polish fighters and the west. He was capture by the Gestapo while on a perpetration in
Slovakia and viciously tortured. He was afraid that he might reveal secrets so he
slashed his wrists and was put into a hospital. An underground Commando team
helped him escape and he continued his work.
In 1942,Mr, Karski,then a 28 year old diplomat in Warsaw for the polish
government prepared for a secret mission to carry information from Nazi-occupied
Poland...
